While I believe it is important for us to be in the voting booth, and, before an election out pounding the pavement to educate people on the importance of voting and knowing who they are voting for; I believe it is more important to preserve and educate the family unit.
The family is where it is at. Training begins at home. The wisest man in the Bible spoke about the wisdom of training a child and training them right.
Proverbs 6:20-22 "My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you." ESV
There are people in our world who wish to change our children. They want to rule society so in order to do this they must change the minds of the children. It is no surprise that God and the Bible are so vehemently kept out of the public schools. Keep the Ten Commandments out of the public eye and out of the schools and a generation of godless is raised to adulthood. This is already happening.
To reverse this process, the family unit needs to take action. Dad and Mom need to make a strong effort to teach their kids right from wrong. Where the family unit has been altered, men and women need to step up and teach. Teach by lending a hand and befriending their neighbors. They need be an example to the unwed mother and her children.
Christians need to soak our country and her leaders in prayer. Put before the God of the Universe, The Creator of the World our requests, petitions as well as our confessions of our failures and sins.
Father's need to turn off the TV, all the sports, computer (this I can be found guilty of myself), or whatever hangup they have and spend time with their children. One on one, teaching and protecting their childs heart and mind.
It is only by changing the hearts and minds of our citizens that our society will be changed. When hearts and minds of voters are changed then will our leaders be changed by voting in leaders that build our country instead of tearing it down.
